I know how to get more things done.
When we moved here, four years ago, we lived in staff housing and did not have a television. For four months I never watched television at all, in the fifth month I watched it when I would go to the gym and in the last month, a cold & wet November, we acquired a small television that we hooked to an aerial that snagged a few channels out of the air. There was never any doubt that we would be hooking up the cablevision when we moved into our house and retrieved our big television from storage. But those four months without? I accomplished a lot, I was happliy busy all the time.
I was thinking about this today when I realized that I have accomplished nothing this week. Well, not nothing but not a lot either. What I have done when I get home from work is settle in front of the computer or the television. I'm happy to do that, it's easy, but then the week starts to draw to a close and I realize that I wanted to bake muffins, weed the rose garden, put a present in the mail, exercise, put the laundry away, clean the fish bowl and that all those hours have passed and I didn't do any of it.
So that's my "how to" advice for this week: Use the OFF button.
