i can't take it anymore.
i feel like howard beale in the movie network, i'm mad as hell and i can't take it anymore.
it isn't life that's getting me down.
it's the driving that is driving me crazy.
december 23 - seven hours through rain and sleet
december 27 - eight hours through the worst fog and freezing rain
december 30 - four hours with the babies in the car
january 2 - five hours to montreal and back through a snowstorm
it's ENOUGH.
if you need a ride, call someone else.
and no, i am not coming over i am in bed!!
but today i had to go see the babies, i had to make sure they were settled and ok. the holidays played havoc with the scheduling of a phone installation so it has been four days of, as A. says, radio silence. i couldn't take it anymore, i had to go. just like robin had to go to her baby, and just as mir needed to see her kids, i needed to see my son and his family. so off we went, in a storm, epis.
all was well, they were settled nicely in their new apartment in montreal across the street from a beautiful park. their things were washed and put away. you see on christmas eve there was a fire in their ottawa apartment. yes, you heard me right, they had a fire and unfortunately had no insurance. what they didn't lose was covered in soot. everything was covered in black soot; their books, the boys clothes, dishes, toys, furniture, all of it. we moved them anyway because that was the plan and the fire, well, it was a glitch in the plan for sure.
so i had to see them, just to make sure they were okay.
today we played hide and go seek inside a gift bag.
danny dressed up for the visit, putting on a white shirt.
and after my bubbie's heart was settled and happy with everything
A. and i left for the best montreal supper ever.
schwartz's deli. since 1928. ninety years of smoked meat.
there is nothing like
a montreal style smoked meat sandwich
a dill pickle, an order of fries, cole slaw and a cherry coke.
heaven.
finally we are home again, and like i said, i am in the bed, again.
a big thank you to A. for understanding my need to go on this one last road trip.
if you were thinking of calling me and asking me to come over,
i am sorry, but i don't want ....
xoxo

Oh lordy, the driving the past month has been hellish! What awful weather and road conditions!
Am glad you restocked on Schwartz's (I live nearby, how funny is that! LOL), now you've given me the drool. Must get a sammich there soon.
Happiest of New Years to you both! :-)
